Here we are, well into our 3rd decade since opening in the fall of 2002.  Who’da thunk and where did the time go. Founder Mitch Schwenke and operating partner Corey Swarthout, along with long tenured Chefs Raul and Victor, offer up excellent food, Florida’s largest selection of boutique California wines and a cozy comfortable environment unsurpassed in SW Florida. Nestled in the gated community Caloosa Yacht and Racquet Club overlooking the Caloosahatchee River, you’ll find the friendliest longest tenured staff whom you’ll soon get to know well and think of as family. Turnover is rare unless someone moves away. And that’s been years.

Oh … let’s not forget about our namesake, The “Coyote Series” by world renown artist Markus Pierson. The Club is adorned with “Coyotes” for your perusing and purchase. If you’d like to view the most recent paintings, please visit our sister  location, Tellurado Studios website, or you can trek to Telluride and visit, we’re nestled in a small box canyon in the middle of the glorious San Juan Mountain Range and then you can discover in-person the most current Coyotes, and the emotion provoking stories that each painting provides. THE STORY BEHIND THE MAN BEHIND THE COYOTES

The “Coyote Series”, created by Michigan native Markus Pierson in 1986 was initially inspired from the Joni Mitchell song; COYOTE. Three decades later it has become one of the longest lasting most successful series of art in history. The “Coyotes” themselves are a metaphor for people, and in their natural state they are engaging in entrepreneurial, philosophical or romantic pursuits. They are a symbol of persuing your dreams, wearing your heart on your sleeve and celebrating all of life’s ups and downs. “I want the Coyotes to whisper in your ear wild, irresponsible notions about self-determination and destiny. I want them to grab people by the scruffs of their necks, to inspire them, to change their lives”.

Perhaps the only artist in history equally adept at painting, writing and sculpting, Markus chose the Coyotes (vs. painting people) because they allow him a broader and deeper range of emotional expression, channeling the rugged individualism, fearlessness and solitude of the Coyote’s life. “They are like a velvet glove. I can hit you with a realty, even a harsh one, but the Coyotes themselves take the edge off the impact”.
